I'm using an Asus Sabertooth FX990 R2.0 board with Win 8, and only my Digital audio is working. I use digital in my room, but I took my PC out of there so I could use the larger tv screen in my basement. I've tried both the front connectors and the back connectors on my computer, but neither of them work. I've tested those with headphones and speakers just to make sure that the devices work, and neither produce sound. Windows Audio Control Panel shows that sound is being produced or at least detected. The odd thing is that these 3.5 jacks used to work before I used digital, but not even re-installing the drivers from ASUS worked.

Well, I downloaded that and installed the drivers, it took away the Realtek sound controller, but I never used it so who cares. But now "Headphones" is showing up as an audio device in the list, but it is constantly appearing and going away. Audio is still not being played through any speakers and I did check the audio in the BIOS, and the chipset is on. I don't know how to check the last thing in your post though.

Oh ok, I found em, and it's not set to AMD, it's on the Realtek speakers. Well, this is odd. When I download and install the drivers from Realtek the headphone device appears and goes away and the digital audio stops working, but when I install the drivers from Asus the digital audio starts working and the headphones disappear. In either case, the front and back jacks don't work.

I just ended up buying a Soundblaster ZX from work and it is fantastic, and now my ports work... I still use SPDIF with the card, but the front panel connectors work now that I have them plugged into the soundcard as opposed to the header on my mobo.
