Hello,

I've just installed a new motherboard and cpu and upon starting the system there are 5 beeps. I looked this up and saw that it may be a processor issue. I've doubled check it's installed properly, no pins are bent, reinstalled it, checked fan. Still no luck. It has thermal pasting on it too. Please help

Thanks for the responses

Five beeps during the power up and posting procedure can mean two possible things.
It depends and the brand name of the motherboard you are using.

1 The first is no cpu detected. that means the model of cpu you have is currently not supported by the motherboard.
Due to the version of the bios firmware currently installed. and therefore needs to be upgraded to a higher revision number in order for the motherboard to recognize the new cpu in the socket of the board.

2.The memory modules if starting off with pair of matched sticks is currently seated in the wrong two slots out of the four provided on the motherboard.

For the cpu, go to the board makers website by brand name and the model number of the motherboard.
You will find a list of what model of cpu`s are supported by it with the revision number of the bios firmware that must be flashed to the bios chip of the motherboard.

For the memory seating and correct location of the first two installed memory sticks consult the manual on there positions they must be placed in the four provided memory slots of the motherboard to allow proper detection of them.
