Hi,

I am looking to build a PC. Havent done it for a few years so I wanted to get everyones feedback / advice.

Here are the specs I have planned so far:

CPU: Intel BX80637I53570 CORE I5-3570K
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 EXTREME6
Case: Coolermaster CM 690 II
Ram: G.Skill GS-F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL DDR3-1600
HDD: SAMSUNG 840 SERIES 120GB SSD
Power Supply: Corsair CMPSU-650TXM 650W Corsair Modular

Additional 6TB will be stored on a Synology DS213+

PC will be mixed use compromising of games, graphics design (adobe) and HTPC running HD video/sound.

Appreciate your input.

Get a graphics card, you will be supremely disappointed with the 3570k's HD 4000. Other than that, your rig looks good but I'm concerned about your PSU since it's not 80+ certified

If you are going to game and do other graphics intensive loads, it is IMPERATIVE that you get a graphics card.
What games are you looking to play, and how much could you sink in to a card? $100 would give you cards like the the HD 7750, a bit more and you'd get better cards like the 7770 and 650 ti. If you can afford it, get the 7850, that would do really well at 1080p on games like BF3.

Refer to this article for Tom's suggestions for the best graphics card for specific price points: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html

You don't need 650W. 450-520W is plenty! 450W is good for 7770 or lower. 500W-520W for 7870+.

For games you'll want a graphic card but how good of one depends on which games you play. For Sim City $50-70GPU, for Battlefield 3 $200+. Also, the GPU will help out with video and graphic work.

An extreme 6 is good but you don't need it. Get a Extreme 4.

You are buying 3570k. Then you need a Cooler Master Evo to keep it cool.

Thank you faster23rd and envy14tpe I really appreciate your help.

Will get the extreme 4 instead of the extreme 6 and I will change PSU to Corsair CX500M. I dont think I will do SLI anytime soon! I have ordered the cooler master evo to keep it cool too :)

With regards to the graphics I am thinking for HIS H785F1G2M Radeon HD 7850.

Thanks again

Great! The 7850 would do you well. If got no more questions, please close this thread and enjoy your rig! :D

SeaSonic 520W is almost same price and it is better quality.

7850 should be fine. You could also consider Nvidia 660.
Glad to help. This system will be very fast!

Any of the 7870s Marcopolo gave is your best bet with the display set up you want, but the single card would be taxed. I'd reccommend the ASUS card because I have a bias towards them, but your free to choose whatever boardmaker you want.

Most cards should handle two displays well. I routinely use my one GPU for Photoshop and I use both screens to compare and edit photos, although it would be best if I had two monitors that were the same. (I calibrate one with Spyder 4.)

For multiple monitors it is better to have 2gb. The HIS 7850 you chose is 1 gb. I'm not sure where the 4gb commment came from.

Look for a 7850 2gb to be safe.

I was under the impression the graphics card I found was 2gb. This is the full model details from the supplier.

Hightech Information System LTD HIS-7850-2GBD5 HIS ATI HD 7850 PCI-E 3.0 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 860 4800 MHz Dual-Link DVI HDMI 2x Mini DP DX11.1 Fan
[HIS-7850-2GBD5]

Is that a 2gb?

Yes it is. That card is plenty for dual monitor but don't try to play games on dual monitor.

Just one more question. I have planned to get the i5 3570K but after thinkning about it I dont think I will be overclocking. Is it pointless that I get this CPU? Should I go for the i5 3570 instead or considering upping it to an i7? Any suggestions?

Yes it is pointless but it could save you some money. If you don't want a 3570k, then you could get a 2570 or 3470. Also, don't buy a Z77 mobo (its for overclocking) instead get a H77.

i5 CPUs are fast and are great. I'd stick with an i5 unless you need Hyper Threading cuz you want to do a lot of video/photo editing.

You might want to consider a SSD with an i5. It will make programs faster.
