Looking for a ground up system build. I'm a technical person, but not able to keep up on all of the day to day changes in the consumer industry, so my knowledge is pretty much what I gleaned from reading articles/reviews/guides on Toms. I'll put what I'm looking to accomplish, and then put what I pieced together myself on pcpartpicker.

Goal: Every Day use. Wife is in school, I do work occasionally on it, but 80% of the time it'll be used for gaming. I'm not a great gamer, but it is my free time hobby, so either I play on the PC or one of my consoles for enjoyment. Game types on the PC range from Shooters to strategy, to fun games (Golf with Friends). Don't do sports games on here unless you count rocket league.

Parts Needed: Everything

Monitor Needed: Yes. Currently using 2 24 in 8 year old monitors

Price Point: Justifiable. Not looking for 500, not looking for 4,000 either. Just want something that will last me 5 years with the occasional part swap out if needed. Don't think I need 4k for the monitor/s I liked what I read about the ViewSonic XG360R-C, but am open to all sorts of ideas. I enjoy a good looking build with RGB.

Here's what I pieced together on PCPARTPICKER. Will likely use NewEgg as my vendor.

I appreciate the idea with the Ryzen, but my current build with a Ryzen 5 was such a disappointment that I'm not sure I want to go back down that road again. I will wait though and see what the reviews say initially. I'm just more inclined this time to pay more and get a (potentially) longer lasting output CPU than the AMD stuff.

Something like this should be pretty good...

What disappointed you about Ryzen 5? Even the worst one - Ryzen 5 1400 - can play Metro Exodus at 1080p with high preset at over 60 FPS.
The general performance of the chip. When comparing it to others I am friends with which were running i7's there was a large noticeable difference in load times etc... Even my boot times were slower.
