Hello, I am basically done building and am looking at which RAM to currently buy. Can anyone help me pick out some RAM for my system?

CPU: 5800x3d
GPU: 6950xt
MB: ASUS TUF x570 Plus WiFi
Storage: Samsung EVO 980 1TB
PSU: Thermaltake 1200w 80 plus Platnium.
CPU Cooler: Rock 4

Basically, I've gone from an 11700k, RTX 3070 and I've been stuttering alot in my games. Switched my old MB, 850w PSU , GPU and CPU, basically built an entire system and the stuttering is still there... only thing I can think to do is upgrade my 2x16 Corsair Vengeance 3600mhz. I'm at a complete loss.

For that Ryzen any 3600MHz Cl 16 or Cl14 if you can find in 2x8 or 2x16GB.

Seen some evo drives cause stuttering if they're faulty last one was 970 evo that looked good in magician but replacing it cleared up the stuttering if the proof of the pudding is in the eating, eat this: weird computer crash when playing most games switched 'is drive and all was pretty again

you could still be in the long grass might be only one problem or might be several, do you have a clean install of windows 10/11 with all mobo relevant drivers from asus tuf x570 wifi installed with the bios up to date with the latest version?

Although I have also heard opinions that corsair memory kinda sux for Ryzen it was like darkbreeze said 65% of ryzen builds with corsair dimms he sees have a problem' so that's still a 35% margin for error, maybe the corsairs are the problem, maybe not but 15% more probably than not if it were 50/50 odds.

Have you monitored thermals with hwmonitor and hwinfo? 5800x3d can run hot so just check if it's throttling. If you're feeling brave maybe you could run a stress test (see beginners overclocking guide) you are/aren't? overclocking but the stress test is the same either way. Just stop the test before the chip gets too hot and switch off avx in prime 95.

Ok so beginner with overkill 1200w stressing cpu looks like scene from hurtlocker let's hope nobody has to die today because of it.

Last but not least: It is only a Checklist of things to check more to diagnose the problem than fix it... sounds like you switched everything besides the drive.

Hello! Thank you so much for the information. Switched from a Crucial 1Tb NVME m.2 drive today to the EVO so it was just installed today with a clean install of Windows 10, I will keep an eye on it and if nothing happens I'll switch to something else. I do have a BarraCuda Internal Drive HDD|SATA just in case something happened so I guess I could try using that at the end of the day.

As for BIOS I updated to the latest.

I have monitored my temps and found on idle the CPU runs about 28-35c.

Yeah the 1200w was a bit much but it definitely fixed alot of issues I had with this new system while using my old 850w PSU.

It makes me happy knowing that about the Corsair RAM, the more I think about it the more I find that, that is my issue. Ever since I switched to AMD I did notice that my old 11700k and 3070 were more stable than my current setup but ever since I gave my system the 1200w PSU, it's fixed alot of the problems and is more on par with my 11700k and 3070, however unless I'm that uneducated... I feel like this system should be out preforming my old setup...

I am looking for new RAM all over the place, I thought I settled on the one posted above but I am still looking. Any opinions?

Edit: Also the RAM is the only part that carried over from my old build.. so that's also kinda of why I'm leaning towards it being the RAM.

Well it's isn't strictly on the support list and trident z neo is specifically designed for x570 but looks more expensive.

There are some dimms that are close that are on the support list

● G.SKILL F4-4000C18Q-32GTZ 4x 8GB SS Samsung 18-19-19-39 1.35 Ryzen™ 5000-Series CPU 4000 4000 ●

Cas 16 4000mhz might be a bit too tight

The g,skill configurator says F4-3600C16D-32GTZR would be suitable for your mobo and I filtered it specifically for ASUS TUF x570 Plus WiFi

You selected F4-4000C16D-32GTZR, so basically just that 400mhz might be the difference between working or not or it might just be close enough to work

Mobo specifications:

3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ Processors
4 x DIMM, Max. 128GB, DDR4 4400(O.C)/3466(O.C.)/3400(O.C.)/3200(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666/2400/2133 MHz Un-buffered Memory

Looks like it could even support 4400 with zen 3 but I don't like it when it doesn't show exactly what you want to see eg. 4000mhz

So I guess try it and if you have a problem maybe just see if it works at 3600mhz but it might not be a problem. Sometimes memory support list compliance matters sometimes it's because they simply haven't tested every variant of dimm (because doing so would be too expensive) so well I guess just try it and see it may be (almost) perfectly fine.

Strange, when I pulled up support for the motherboard I got this.

4 x DIMM, Max. 128GB, DDR4 5100(O.C)/4800(O.C.)/4600(O.C)/4400(O.C)/4266(O.C.)/4133(O.C.)/4000(O.C.)/3866(O.C.)/3733(O.C.)/3600(O.C.)/3466(O.C.)/3400(O.C.)/3200(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2933/2800/2666/2400/2133 MHz Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel Memory Architecture
  • Refer to www.asus.com for the Memory QVL (Qualified Vendors Lists).
  • The maximum memory frequency supported varies by processor.
I saw 4000 on there and figured it would be alright to get the one I did. I should have just taken your recommendations in the first place. I just thought I found a steal.

Edit: Ah, I see that in the configure, you used the ASUS TUF x570 WiFi it, wasn't the PLUS WiFi Version. 4000 is in there. Only concern is 2x16 isn't there.

That's strange I get this: asus tuf gaming x570-plus (wifi)

3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ Processors
4 x DIMM, Max. 128GB, DDR4 4400(O.C)/3466(O.C.)/3400(O.C.)/3200(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666/2400/2133 MHz Un-buffered Memory

oh yes I pressed the wrong button

gaming plus wifi on the configurator gets F4-4000C16D-16GTZRA Whilst 3600mhz on newegg gets: F4-3600C16D-32GTZRC at $152 well $90 extra for 4000mhz not sure it's a steal. Those g.skill prices are bit jittery though.

never sure why they append 1 model number have to ask g.skill one of these days.

so it looks like it should work at 4000mhz.

I'm not a genius, not even close BUT... maybe this page is more updated somehow? Because I know there was a BIOS update for this motherboard which improved performance specifically for the 5800x3d. Maybe they updated it on the US page that the board was "technically" able to achieve higher RAM speeds. Hence why websites like the GSkill wouldn't update because technically the Motherboard can't achieve those speeds unless you use the 5800x3d since technically they would work together... I ain't got a clue.
