Hi all, last week I bought some components to build a new machine

-Asus Maximus VIII Hero
-Intel core i7 6700K
-G.Skill Ripjaws 3600 DDR4
-EVGA Supernova G2
-Palit Nvidia GTX 980 TI (no JetStream)
-Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus

(everything except graphic card and the cooler master is new)

I tried some light overclock on my graphic card with Thunder Master (Palit utility for overclock) and the processor up to 4600 MHZ and RAM to 2800 these two through the motherboard BIOS
I used RealBench from ASUS to check stability, and after some crashes I restored everything to default, graphic card, processor and RAM, but it keeps crashing on the RealBench utility. I got 3 different errors:
-Blue screen: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT.
-RealBench just stops the test, saying instability detected.
-LuxMark (the thing from RealBench that checks graphic card) stop working.

Why I cant pass the stress test even with everything, clock voltage etc set to default? Which component could be failing? Maybe its something defective?
Btw i used memtest to check RAM and it was ok.

I also used UserBenchMark and everything except my graphic card got a good score (it's on 8th percentile)
Any idea guys? Im a bit worried because I spent a lot on my computer.

What size is the power supply?

And what error are you getting in windows event log? Kernel event power 41? display driver has stopped responding?

Anyways try this. Download ddu and select nvidia. Select clean and shut down. Then take the gpu out of the pci slot and check for dust, reseat the card firmly, make sure all the wires are secured, etc. Then boot, go to nvidia's website and download a fresh set of the latest drivers and install.

Hi again, I tried what u told me, but RealBench keeps closing saying instability detected (at least no blue screen).
This is what i get on Windows event log:

The other error i got is the same, what could it be?

Are you still overclocking? If you are stop. overclocking. Are you using any overlay software? Msi afterburner? fraps? anything like that? Turn it off.

And also is it just this application that's crashing? Are any games crashing? Is anything else crashing? If it's just this that's crashing then screw it. Also have you tried uninstalling it? then reinstalling it?

This tool isn't really that valuable. Try firestrike for an accurate meausrement. Just because one application is crashing isn't a sign your computer is broken.

As I said, at the beginning I was trying to get a stable overlock, checking it with Realbench, but after some crashes I changed everything to default, but it kept crashing, so I came here worried about it.
No fraps, only Thunder Master, the Palit utility for OC, but everything is set to default. BTW, can I use MSI afterburner even if my card is not MSI?

Before trying RealBench, I tryied +250/300 gpu clock offset, +400 memory clock Offset, and +0.087 V overvoltaged on GTA V. When I set the gpu clock to +300 the system usually crashes, but on +250 it can handle, but after 10/30 minutes, sometimes more, I get a GFX D3D error. And after that, I tryied RealBench to find a Stability point.

I did the FireStrike test as you said:

It's anything wrong? in similar systems scores, it seems that people usually get more than me

That's the sign of an unstable overclock. Anytime you overclock and it crashes like that it's not stable. I'd run everything at default then slowly make my way up. Don't start by overclocking a huge amount.

And yes your firestrike scores are perfectly fine. Great actually. So again I wouldn't worry about the realbench.

I was using RealBench to know where is the stability point of my processor when overclocking, adding 0.01 voltage after every crash, but after some blue screens stopped, I started getting other errors, like utility stopping. I should use then FireStrike to check the stability point of my processor and GPU?

Thank you a lot man, really.

Yes you should. And gradually. It might be that it wasn't getting enough voltage on real bench when you were overclocking. Does it run at stock settings? Like no crashes?

But either way yes use firestrike. Best way to detect artifacts in my opinion.

Hi again, I finally got a stable point of OC for my processor and gpu. My processor is running at +600 mhz and GPU +500 memory clock and +255 core clock, at 110% power limit. They run fine at default voltage, but I get significantly more FPS at +0.87 voltage. I thought the purpose for touching voltage was getting enough power for the overclock, didnt know it could affect directly to FPS permormance.

Is 0.87 "safe" or im risking myself too much?
