System crashes: Win XP error codes and messages

I have posted this here, because I believe that this is a hardware problem, either motherboard, or hard disk.

My desktop PC often (once a day ?, but it varies), Win XP, crashes, and reboots. Sometimes after reboot, Win XP tells me that Drive C needs checking, and sometimes my drive F has "disappeared". I have replaced the cable which connects these two drives to the motherboard.

I have taken note of the Win XP error codes and messages. Where do I find out what these codes and messages mean ?
