My computer breaks down everytime I try to play any kind of game on it. An
errormessage usually shows up after restart saying it's because of some
device driver error. I checked my log to see what it said and it identified
the error as "category (102)", "event-ID 1003". I tried using the
supportcenter but it didn't come up with anything.
I've tried updating the drivers for my Radeon 9800 Pro and disabling a
number of programs running in the background to deal with this, but nothing
helps. I have a suspicion it could have something to do with non-sufficient
cooling of my computer but is that really a device driver problem.. I've
never had any issues with the cooling of my machine before this. Seems
strange it would decide to start sweating now. I also have an incorporated
Realtek soundcard. Could that have anything to do with it?
Kindly give me some pointers on what to do about this. It would be much
appreciated.

Thanks!

First, go to Start...Control Panel...System...Advanced tab...Startup and
Recovery Settings button. In the resulting window, uncheck the box that says
"Automatically restart...". This will enable you to read the screen that
identifies the cause of the crash. There should be a line that starts with
STOP, or BugCheck. We'll need you to copy down the numbers and letters that
follow it. Also, look for any files that may be identified in the error
message - they'll provide clues as what's going wrong in your system.

Cooling isn't a device driver issue. Overclocking is, as are dust bunnies.
After a while a system will clog up with dirt and dust - they need to be
cleaned regularly. I use a free utility called SpeedFan to monitor my
temperatures - it's available here: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

I've used the onboard Realtek sound cards for several years and they've
always been solid and reliable for me.

Finally, video device drivers are a finicky bunch. Whenever troubleshooting
a problem ensure that you're using the latest, WHQL certified drivers for
your card. These drivers are certified to work with Windows and will ease
the troubleshooting process immensely.

Did you setup the AGP slot in the bios for the amount of memory on the video
card?
What do you have under the hood in your system ie. mem. mobo, PSU, CPU etc..
How many fans, ATX case? New build, older OEM?

Hi there!
I've got a Stop message now. Here goes:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0x0000000A (0x80EEE258, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x806EE2D6)

My computer specs are as follows:
AMD Athlon XP3000+
512MB Ram
Samsung 160Gb
Abit KD7A Socket A Motherboard
Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb (with old driver, tried new catalyst but that didn't
work either)

Any clues?
Thanks!
