Hey guys! my system has felt like its been running slow lately, its hard to explain but some processes have just seemed bogged down. For example, I was playing the game "Golf with friends" and consistently I would go below 60fps for 30secs to a minute. Could it be that my ram is too slow? Is it possible that its my mobo? Should I overclock? Are my three monitors slowing me down (Only using one for gaming)? etc. Also! if you need more info to help me then hmu.

Also on a slightly unrelated note but still kind of related note. When I have been playing CSGO, I have been getting lag spike/frame drops, the only consistency between them is that my VAR spikes... Anyone know anything

Thanks in advance

I'm nearly 100% sure that its the fact that you are running 3 monitors. To put things into perpective, 4k is essentially 4x 1080p displays pushed into a single monitor with higher ppi.
You are powering 3 displays with a value oriented graphics card, which is essentially the equivalent of powering a 4k display with a GTX 980, so some lag is very expected, especially if you're daisy chaining monitors which could be latency delay or inconsistencies between transfer. Try using one monitor for a bit and see if the issue still persists.

Do you think that my PC would be able to handle it with an i5-4960k (My friend has one to give to me) and another 970? (Or a single 1070)

Given that a 970 now costs very similar to a 1070 at a new price, i'd suggest buying a 1070 due to the higher single card performance and stronger compatibility with newer technologies. This also removes the stuttering and tearing which is sometimes present in SLI setups when the second card is struggling, even then two 970s still wouldn't beat a 1070.

Is there any particular reason you need 3 monitors? It severely impacts on the performance you can achieve in gaming because of the two other desktops being run at the same time.
I would suggest disabling one or even both of these extra monitors while gaming to minimize the impact on frame rate and stability until you get your new graphics card.
I suggest either MSI or EVGA, as EVGA has great warranty, and the MSI card sports solid clocks while giving a clean look to any black build.

After doing a mountain of things including overclocking, ending lots of background things and etc, CSGO is running at literally double the frame rate sometimes. Thanks!

Nice, :)
Sort of assumed you'd already OC'd your 970 since it has such good headroom, but skipped over it. xD
If you ever feel the need to upgrade for 144hz (You probably should, the XL2411Z is great), the 1070 is the way to go for sure.
