System getting very hot very fast when gaming ?

Hi, my build is fairly new and when ever i play a game the cpu and gpu temps rocket from fairly low temps to what I've read, is pretty high.

My CPU is right now idling at around 25 - 30c, and my GPU idling at 47c. After about 5 minutes of playing pretty much any game at 1920x1080, both components go to around 80 - 90c sometimes the pc shuts itself down and I believe this is why. I reapplied new thermal paste to the cpu a couple of days ago but nothings changed. The airflow in the case is not ideal but surely it's not bad enough to get to those temps ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Well having a hot case can make a difference. Your idle temps look OK, But having both GPU and CPU go 80-90° is definitely a problem.

What case do you have, what CPU cooler, and how are fans configured?

It's a fractal design core 1000 so it's pretty small, I leave one side panel off though. It has 2 intake fans, one on the front and side and one exhaust on the back. The CPU has the stock heatsink and fan.

Well all I can say is if you are overclocking, stop it. That case doesn't give much room for improvement in the cooling department.

It appears your ambient temps and case temps are causing hardware malfunction. I would personally get a case with better airflow before you cook some computer components. Otherwise, you might aim a room fan at the open CPU case... Or better yet, aim an AC duct at it if possible...

I don't think the airflow is causing it, like I said it's not perfect but it's reasonably good. The temps just shoot up after a couple of minutes of playing then drop right back down when I close the game. I'll look into getting a new case anyway and I'll check the bios. Thanks for the help :]
