Windows10
AMD Fx-9590
16GB DDR3 Ram
Gigabyte mobo
XFX RX 470 4GB VC
Cyberpower PC

My system runs well for the most part, but launching any game will cause it to eventually lock up. I thought it might have been heat related, as two of the fans had failed on the asetek liquid cooling system I did have. I replaced that with a Riing rgb 3.0. Idle temps for CPU are 46C and VC is 51C. Under load the CPU doesn't tend to get much hotter than that maybe 55c, while the card jumps to 65-70C. I thought it might be the VC, and swapped that out twice now, was an MSI now I have the XFX. I cleared the drivers and did a fresh install of the latest Radeon suite. I have made adjustments with the VCs fan speed and the in game video settings but the system still locks up. It isn't a set time either, could be 30 minutes could be an hour.

I came here looking for some answers and found a lot of similar questions that seemed to have the same answer. Is my issue PSU related? I'm running a Corsair CS850M. Is that my issue? Do I need to upgrade to a 1000w psu?

Thank you for the response SR-71 Blackbird. I believe I have read somewhere on here that I want to go with a platinum rated unit? I only see 4 options of that certification on Newegg, though I'll be picking one up from the local Frys. Looks like EVGA and FSP. I just want to make sure I'm getting the right unit. I've made that mistake before where I didn't have the right rails (?) for a previous (much older) build.

Wasn't sure, that's why I asked. :) Thank you for the help, SR-71 Blackbird I really appreciate it. The local Fry's opens at 9AM, I'll post an update after I get the unit swapped and tested out.

Alright, well I got the new PSU, but the system still locked up after about 40 minutes. Though, I'm not sure if I flubbed the PSU choice again. All they had available was the Corsair RM1000i for that brand and didn't carry any EVGAs. The PSU was still listed as an 80plus gold certified unit though.

Should I try downgrading the 9590? I have read nothing but horror stories related to this CPU. I probably should have done more research before purchasing this one.

Alright, final update (I hope). I got an 8350 from new egg, received it today and installed it. So far so good. System is stable, heat is acceptable, no major issues.

In other news...does anyone want to buy a lightly used FX-9590? :-D
