Hi I've just built a brand new system and I can't get anything to appear on the screen when I turn it on. I've fitted the 8pin CPU and the 24pin atx, everything powers on I'm using a GTX 1070 GPU and I've tried the hdmi from the gpu and the motherboard and still nothing. The motherboard is a Z170-P, ram is hyperx 16gb 2x8 ddr4 3333mhz I7-7700k CPU and I read somewhere the bios on the motherboard is out of date for this processor? Would that cause the problem I have? I can't update the bios for obvious reasons so I seem to be stuck in a vicious circle :-(

Solution
You will need a working PC to update the BIOS you can either buy the lowest price processor that the board supports, take it to a PC shop or order a new BIOS chip that has been updated already.
Yes a out of date BIOS that does not support the CPU will do what your PC is doing.

Thank you, I'll buy a new bios chip. Has to be cheaper than taking to a shop or buying a low end processor.... this might be a stupid question but does the bios chip have to be one for that specific motherboard or will any chip with updated bios fit?
