Hi all, I built a system last year, and I've noticed some issues and was wondering if I could get some help from the community. I'm wondering if there's some settings or optimization I can do to fix the below. I'm not much of a software guy, so most system settings haven't been touched.
The biggest issues I have is stuttering when rendering in Cinema 4D while watching a movie in iTunes/Netflix. And, once a month or so with a fresh boot, the system fans will spin loudly and the system will shut down with a blue screen. I have to unplug and drain the power and it boots up fine for the next few weeks. I stopped shutting down to avoid this issue.
Now, the system consists of the following:
- Windows 7 Pro (I have Win 10 Pro but have been too scared to install)
- Intel X99 i7 5820k (running at stock speeds)
- MSI X99A GAMING PRO CARBON LGA 2011-v3
- 128GB G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 64GB (4 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400
- MSI GeForce GTX 980TI GAMING 6G GOLDEN EDITION
- SAMSUNG 850 PRO 2.5" 512GB SATA III SSD (Operating System)
- (2) 3TB WD Black HDD (1 for iTunes files, 1 for production files)
- Corsair Hydro Series H110i Liquid CPU Cooler
I don't game at all, this is strictly a 3D/ Design workstation. I figured with the above components, this would be super smooth, but to be honest, I'm not that impressed. It's not that fast, and the stuttering issues are pretty annoying. If anyone has any ideas for system settings/replacement of components, I would appreciate the help. (I have about $2000 for upgrades if needed). Thanks!
