System Randomly Powers-Off [No BSOD, No Errors]

Hi there folks!

I've read up a lot on this issue and have tried many things before, so I'll be making this as detailed as I can before I go in for an expensive upgrade/replacement to my hardware.

MY BUILD
CPU: Intel i7 2600k
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3R
GPU: Nvidia 560ti 1GB
PSU: [Recently Changed, please refer to SOLUTIONS TRIED below] Cooler Master V750 (Modular)
HDD: Seagate Baraccuda 2TB

PROBLEM
My PC randomly powers-off, it is not a "shut down" and I get no error, just everything powers off and my screen goes blank. It restarts immediately when I turn it back on, but once again turns off after X random amount of minutes. Sometimes it can go the whole day without causing any issue, sometimes I have the issue re-occur thrice in a short span of an hour. There are no error logs apart from the Event Viewer reporting the generic Event ID 41. No BSOD, nada.

There were a couple of random errors during one of these power-off instances (has happened multiple times, so over a span of 10/12 times this error showed up once each)
- Harddrive integrity check (checked my E:\ drive to ensure nothing was corrupted, it came out clean)
- BIOS Checksum error (it asked to boot with last known good configuration)
PLEASE NOTE THE ABOVE HAVE ONLY BEEN DISPLAYED ONCE EACH OUT OF MULTIPLE TIMES THE PC GOT POWERED OFF.

SOLUTIONS TRIED
- Opened and cleaned the case completely
- I use Cooler Master CPU Cooler, cleaned the heatsink, re-applied thermal paste and replaced cooler.
- Swapped RAM Slots (4x4 to different slots)
- Changed PSU (was using an old AMTEC 750w PSU, purcahsed Coolver Master V750 but didn't solve the issue)
- Removed GPU, cleaned, and inserted it back. Could not test with another GPU as I do not own a spare.
- Ensured no heat problems, all temperatures are under limits
- Re-checked all internal cables and connections

NEXT STEP
I've narrowed it down to an issue with my motherboard, am I right? I would like second opinion.

My processor being 2nd Generation, my next step is to upgrade my processor & motherboard. I'm planning the following upgrades as my system is nearly 5 years old now.

Processor [Intel i5-6600k]
Motherboard [Asus Z170 PRO GAMING Motherboard]
Graphics card [Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB]
RAM [Corsair Vengeance DDR4 8GB]
SSD [Samsung Evo 120GB]
HDD Seagate 2TB

Am I jumping the gun too quick with the upgrade? Is there anything else that I missed out on doing? I've read about resetting/flashing BIOS but frankly I've never done anything to the BIOS, I built the PC myself and have never overclocked even. But if I should try something out, please let me know!

P.S: I somehow sent this in without registering, but I have no idea where that thread went. Sorry for the trouble, mods!

Solution
very possible its the motherboard, did you attempt single sticks of ram at a time to see if there was a single bad stick, or bad slot? if you have the money to upgrade and you feel like its worth it, id always recommend it, *you cant be disappointed with new hardware* most of the time. have you had any other issues with the system other than the random reboots or does it seem to be the only issue presented?

Solution

Thank you for the quick reply! :)

I did not attempt single sticks of RAM at a time, I only changed the slots they were in on. I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic and there was no problem or error reported by the diagnostic tool.

The random power-off's are the only issue, there is no other issue presented.

And indeed, can't be disappointed with new hardware, especially when you jump from 2nd gen to 6th gen, boy. I tried finding a motherboard for my current processor, but cannot get a good/high end motherboard which made me decide to go in for the upgrade.

Thanks once again, nyterage :) I'm also heavily leaning towards a motherboard issue since I've tried out many things.

-----------

I'll leave this question still open for a few more opinions, for the sake of knowledge and future troubleshooting. Going to place order for the new hardware, I guess!
