System recovery by mistake help!!!

Hello,
I contacted acer with an issues with my crystal eye web cam and they ended up having me do a system recovery and I didn't realize what it was doing until it was to late. Now I have lost all my photos. I have contacted them again and now they want to charge me to fix the problem they caused. I know there has to be another way but I am not good with computers or I would not have even started trying to solve my web cam issue. Can anyone out there help me get back my old files and photos???? I have an Acer notebook with windows vista...

Recommendation: If/when you recover your files, backup your old files and photos to a CD/DVD or an external HDD so this can't happen again.
