System RECOVERY

i have contracted a virus that has some how disabled my vista, it now says it is an illegal copy. i therefore cannot get a recovery. pls help

It may not be a virus, rather Microsoft detecting your Vista OS as an illegal copy.
If you are sure your copy is legal, ie; you have a certificate of authenticity and serial number, contact Microsoft for a solution.
Was this preinstalled on your pc when you purchased it? who from?
Is it a name brand pc, like Acer, Dell, HP etc.?
