i recently just installed windows 10 on my new ssd and then went to go and install forza however at one point i cancelled the installation and restarted it. some time passes as i wait for the 70gb game to download and as i check my disk in file explorer i realise way too much of my storage is being taken up for a 70gb game. i was quite confused and just assumed that when i cancelled the installation my computer just kept a hold on that chunk of storage because i was expecting to use it or something and that everything would go back to normal after a restart. that wasn't the case, and so i went to storage in my windows settings and was shocked to see that windows was hogging 178gb worth of storage when windows on my last drive only took just under 30gb. my natural reaction was to ask "wtf?" and then go look it up, and so at some point i typed "chkdsk" in cmd to find out that i had about 550gb free compared to the 448 in file explorer. this was still way more storage than should be used up and there are no extra partitions hidden or anything. this has left me clueless as to why something like this would happen. my program files (x86) folder is only 206gb which is about how much i have installed in total.

windows really gets on my nerves since its always hogging a completely ridiculous amount of my resources!

Click on the System and Reserved line from the first pic and it tells you what is using it up. Virtual memory, Hibernation file and System Restore are included. Mine had a lot of System Restore points. You can clear some of those or just leave them until you need space.
