System running very slow..

Hello,

Early today was unable to type any text no matter which browser or word processing program..I updated the BIOS and was able to type text...however my system is running extremely slow, the screen is jerky, and now Windows tells me that the anti virus (Kaspersky) is not loaded. When I tell it to load it, nothing happens altho can run it standalone (running fulll scan now). Any suggestions?

Run your virus software in safe mode with networking (most likely F8 at your logo screen before Win 7 loads), get http://www.malwarebytes.org/. Do all the updates first then do the scan. If it detects and removes the viruses you should also get CCleaner http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER do a cleanup on your junk files and check your registry for any errors. Make sure before deleting the entries CCLeaner picks up that you back up your registry (it should prompt you to do so) Check your startup programs if you know of any programs that is starting up (except for your antivirus software), shut them off. If your not sure what certain start up programs do hit print screen on your keyboard, paste it in paint or some other picture program upload it then put the link or paste the photo (using the photo icon) on here. You can also google the program file as well to see if it's an important program.

It also wouldn't hurt to get HD Tune http://www.hdtune.com/ to check your hard drive for errors then running the benchmark to see if your hard drive is working at a decent pace. I find Crystal disk http://crystalmark.info/download/index-e.html with better S.M.A.R.T. info to see whether your drive is bad. Get defraggler http://www.piriform.com/defraggler to check your hard drive for fragmentation. The more fragmented your drive is the slower the access data can be accessed. If your still having issues check Windows Task Manager and see whether your CPU or RAM/Physical Memory is full.

It's quite funny how people jump to conclusions without knowing any information...

First, give us your system specs and a list from the [Processes] tab of Windows Task Manager

Second, has this issue just started recently? or has it been happening all along? or do you recall installing a program and then it started happening?
