[SOLVED] System runs for 30s after boot, then reboots

Hi guys,

I recently got all components I ordered for building my first PC.
When I connected everything and pressed the power button, PC turns on and stays that way for about 30 seconds and then reboots. And continues along the same pattern.
I tried everything suggested in the sticky in this forum, and so I'm asking for some specific help.

Here are the specs:

Processor: Ryzen 5 1600x
Cooler: Hyper 212 turbo LED
Motherboard: ASROCK b450m pro4
PSU: Corsair VS 550
RAM: Crucial CT8G4DFS824A.C8FE (8GB DDR4 2400Mhz UDIMM)
GPU: GTX 1060 3gb gigabyte windforce oc

I know that this RAM is not compatible, but I tried turning it on without the RAM and same issue. Also when I connected the GPU, fans start spinning couple of seconds after initial boot, then stop spinning, and I did not get any display output to the monitor.
So I decided to remove the GPU until I fix the booting problem.
So my question is, if I get compatible RAM sticks, will this solve my problem? Or could the problem be more serious?

The 1600x doesnt have any integrated graphics ao leave the gpu installed to troubleshoot. I would try unplugging everyhing unnecessary for the pc to boot. No fans other than cpu cooler, no storage drives and try to boot. 1st gen cpus do have ram issues. https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/2144-basic-pc-build-troubleshooting-steps-wont-boot

Thanks, I will check the link out. I tried what you suggested as well, still the same issue. I didn't get any output on the monitor so I left the gpu out

The only thing I haven't tried is CMOS reset. Not sure if it will work though

I agree, but do you think that is actually the issue? What do you think about the RAM thing?

I would replace that 1st and see how it goes.

Then worry about the ram if the issue continues.

I see, I will try that as well. Although, it kind of pains me since it was relatively expensive here.

If the memory was the real issue it wouldn't boot at all normally.

You would never get past the bios.

I'm not sure it gets to the bios. But seing it runs for ~30s I suppose it does?

Yeah....

Replace the PSU 1st, that will rule that out.

Then get compatible memory, I normally recommend GSKILL.

Well the thing is as I mentioned earlier, I removed the GPU since I wanted to fix the booting problem first. Afraid that the GPU might get damaged from all the rebooting. Hence I do not get any display

Yeah....

Replace the PSU 1st, that will rule that out.

You need to put the GPU back in once you get the new PSU, I wouldn't risk the GPU with that PSU.

Vs line is one of the worst power supply lines corsair ever made. Id at least gets a newer cxm, or txm line from corsair. My cx550m works great.

My thought process is the PSU is new, it should work even for a month. But ok I will try with the other one

Thanks guys, turns out the problem was the RAM. I put 2x hyperx fury DDR4 2400Mhz (HX424C15FB/4) and everything worked fine

Good to know! First generation commonly has ram problems as i have seen first-hand.
