System Service Exception Atikmdag.sys stop error 0x3b when starting any game.

Recently I came across this atikmdag.sys 0x3b stop error after updating to a newer driver. I've made a clean installation of windows, I've ran memtest 5 passes on each of my mem. sticks without any errors. After a fresh windows installation I even went back to the 13.12 driver with no luck, same bsod.
I also tried this guide: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1656824/atikmdag-sys-error-bsod-startup.html without any progress.
I was using the 13.12 driver for about 5 months until I recently decided to update the CCC to the 14.1 version and after that BSOD's was all over me.

I updated my BIOS.

Even running a fullscreen GPU test caused the same BSOD.

Hey there! I took a look at your DMP files and 3b (System Service Exception) is a graphical driver issue, it crosses over and passes bad data to the ntoskrnl which causes the blue screen. There are two new graphic drivers available from AMD (Version 14.4 and Version 14.6 Beta.) I am running Version 14.6 Beta and I have no issues. On driver 14.1 and previous, I used to get the blue screen '3b' a lot. Now I hardly ever get it. So I would recommend uninstalling AMD Catalyst, restart the computer and then install the new 14.6 Beta version.

I tried your method but unfortunately it didn't help. Had an identical BSOD as soon as I started a game after installing the 14.6 :/

Have you ran an Error Check on your HDD recently?

Hey man I have a 7990 also and I have BSOD problems too. Can't launch Max Payne 3 without a blue screen. Tried updating to the latest beta drivers (14.7) but after that I experienced blue screens from gifs while using Chrome. Crazy. Guess I'll try an older driver. I had the latest stable (14.4 I think?) before trying the beta drivers but I had the same problem with Max Payne 3. Let me know if you have any progress. Thanks

I've recently had a similar issue. Uninstall everything that you have "Adobe" made on your computer. Then go to Adobe's website and reinstall them. Its most likely Adobe Flash Player that is causing a crashing problem.

So here's the deal as of now.
I took all of my components to the company where I got them. They assembled my system and successfully played games without any errors. They sent the parts back to me, I put them all together and starts a game - boom. BSOD is all over. I didnt make any changes to anything from the time the support dude tested my parts to the time where I tried starting a game again at home with everything mounted in my case.

Its always a possibility of a grounding issue. Something that you can try, whoever I doubt that it is a grounding issue, take all your components out of the case and assemble them on a cardboard box. Place the motherboard on the cardboard box obviously...it requires a bit of creative thinking so don't get frustrated if some of the cords aren't long enough. Start your computer up, usually by pressing the power button on the motherboard and try running a few games. If you get a BSOD then its not a grounding issue.

Okay, RSoD. That's a Graphics Card issue. Here's how to fix that one;

1. Navigate to your Control Panel and click on the Programs category.

2. On Programs window, click Uninstall a program option under Programs and Features category from the right pane.

3. On Programs and Features window, from the right pane, search for softOSD software.

4. Once searched, right-click the software.

5. From the displayed menu, click Uninstall/Change.

6. On the displayed confirmation box, click Yes to remove the selected application. (Skip the removal of sds64a.sys file when prompted for deletion which resides in C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder.)

7. Close Programs and Features window when done.
