Recently built a new pc, and it’s been working great. It randomly shut off and doesn’t show anything on screen when I try and boot. There is a red light by the CPU fan header. My motherboard is a Strix b450, cpu is a ryzen 5 3600
did you clear the bios when you bought it i had the same issue asus test the mobo before selling so it proably has a different cpu memorized/saved to it.Recently built a new pc, and it’s been working great. I didn’t clear it but it’s been working fine for a few weeks nowdid you clear the bios when you bought it i had the same issue asus test the mobo before selling so it proably has a different cpu memorized saved to it.
try clearing the bios again set your ram timing speeds manually and your cpu clock speed if you are ocing leave speed step on if not i would shut it off.I didn’t clear it but it’s been working fine for a few weeks now
It won’t boot at all. Not sure how I could do thattry clearing the bios again set your ram timing speeds manually and your cpu clock speed if you are ocing leave speed step on if not i would shut it off.
well that's why i was saying try clearing the bios again see if that will work again it maybe the timings and ram not like auto settings or the settings you had them atIt won’t boot at all. Not sure how I could do that
with the pc unplugged pull the bios battery then hold the power button on the case for 30s x2 times. then reseat the bios battery and plug pc back in then try posting to biosIt won’t boot at all. Not sure how I could do that
Sorry for the misunderstanding. That did not fix it though.with the pc unplugged pull the bios battery then hold the power button on the case for 30s x2 times. then reseat the bios battery and plug pc back in then try posting to bios
Still no boot, I should saySorry for the misunderstanding. That did not fix it though.
o alright do you by chance happen to have a old gpu lying around to test withStill no boot, I should say
I do not, but I did try booting without the gpu and the system reacted the same wayo alright do you by chance happen to have a old gpu lying around to test with
you have no intergated graphics thats whyI do not, but I did try booting without the gpu and the system reacted the same way
That wouldn’t stop it from booting though, correct?you have no intergated graphics thats why
yes it will there's nothing for it to display through if you have no graphics. That wouldn’t stop it from booting though, correct?
do you have the latest bios or have you updated the bios at all since updatingyes it will there's nothing for it to display through if you have no graphics.
the red light indicates cpu support issues whether the cpu is dead or mobo is having a support issueThat wouldn’t stop it from booting though, correct?
I built the pc less than a month ago.the red light indicates cpu support issues whether the cpu is dead or mobo is having a support issue
Fans are in fact runningDo the fans run when you attempt to boot the computer? (The fans will run whether a gpu is in the pc or not)
it's support for the cpu or the cpu has failedI built the pc less than a month ago.
Fans are in fact running
I am aware. I’m not sure how to fix that, or if a new cpu will be necessary. It was installed just fine, temps have been okay, and no other issues before thisit's support for the cpu or the cpu has failed
only thing i can really say is it would be cheaper to take it to a shop and have them throw a older modle cpu in and see if they can do a bios update for it and get it to boot that way $40 to have do it $ 150 to order a known good cpu and do it yourselfI am aware. I’m not sure how to fix that, or if a new cpu will be necessary. It was installed just fine, temps have been okay, and no other issues before this
something tells me he would have tried if he could have already...Can you get the computer to boot with a different CPU?
It may need a bios update
I will try this. I’ll have to get a buddy’s cpuCan you get the computer to boot with a different CPU?
