System shuts down after 2 hours

Hello,

I have a P5KPL-AM/PS motherboard with a Core 2 Duo 2.93Ghz processor/2 GB RAM/Windows XP SP3. My system after being off for a day can be started up and used for 2 hours. After that it restarts and displays the windows\system32\config\system file missing/corrupt error message.

It would not start up then. I have to give it 10-15 minutes of rest before it fires up again. Then tooo it will only work for 10-20 minutes before shutting down again.

Give it about 12 hour of rest and it will work for 2 to 2.15 hours.

I have tried reinstalling Windows XP SP3 on the system but that did not help.
I have also tried monitoring the tempratures but that does not seem to be anything concerning.

Please advice.

What PSU do you have, brand and model please, not just wattage? That may be what is overheating.

I agree, try another PSU first. Next thing to look at will be the mobo.
