Question System shuts down after selecting drive on bios

Last night I encountered a situation where a new mirror was not recognized upon boot. The BIOS selected the DVD and hung up there, because I had removed the rescue disk.

I disconnected every drive except the one I wanted to use for OS. I also entered BIOS and put that one drive in the front position.

I rebooted and it all works. I put the DVD drive into #2 position and it still works.

I think sometimes these systems need to be helped along by not giving them any choices till after you've established you have a sure thing in the boot procedure.

So in your situation I would disconnect every storage medium except your preferred boot drive, make sure it's working reliably, and then add other drives in. Hope that helps,
