Hey there, just changed out my old 800W power supply as I was changing out graphics cards from a 1650S to a 1660S, but after doing so the computer will boot to the motherboard splash screen and get no further. I cannot access the BIOS after trying things like:

  • Reseated memory, swapped slots. Tried one stick at a time in each slot.
  • Checked power cables to each component.
  • Taking out the CMOS battery and replacing after 15 min.
  • Different keyboards/usb slots.
  • Unplugged hard drives.
  • Tested with 4 different PSUs, including the original I was replacing.
Specs:

  • Mobo: Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4
  • CPU: I7-3820 @ 3.6 Ghz
  • PSU: Corsair RM850, 850 Watt
  • RAM: 4x Micron 4GB DDR3
  • GPU: Asus Nvidia GTX 1660S
The computer DOES boot to Windows if I put in an old GTX 650, but not the 1650S or the 1660S, even though previously the 1650S worked with my machine.

Let me know if any additional info is needed, thanks!

Update:
Managed to fix the issue by changing the BIOS to Legacy mode instead of UEFI after putting in the 650.
