All of a sudden my computer started randomly freezing up after a year of being stable (built the system last year myself) It will just lock up ..and in order to reboot it I have to actually turn the power off in the back switch..(won't reset if I hold in the power button). However, it appears nothing is wrong with power button because it turns on right away when I hit the button again..and it will turn off with the power button if the system is not frozen. Very bizarre behavior

Here are my specs:
P55-UD2 Motherboard
I5-750-not overclocked
8GB Ram
Windows 7 64 bit.
Antec 550 PSU
I do have a 5850 Graphics card, but I don't use it for 3D anymore-rarely game so I don't think it is taxing the system and the PSU should have more than enough power. I did try 3D gaming the other day and it was fine..didn't crash at all.

I have already done the obvious..I returned the motherboard to default settings. I did a system restore ensuring a fresh installation of Windows. I have made sure the ram is in place and checked all the wires are connected.
Any idea what this could be? It is driving me crazy. There is no rhyme or reason when it crashes.
I am not a "noob" when it comes to being inside of my PC. I don't know what it could be.
