I have a little problem here that is really mind boggling.

This is whats happening!
When my system goes into standby/hibernation, then when i try to wake it up through the mouse, keyboard or network (by windows update), it will just sit there and turn itself on and off. weird ha?
I have an lg monitor with about 6 or 7 lights that turn on, one light at a time from right to left, by the time the monitor lights get to the left side the system will turn itself off again, couple seconds later turn itself on, then off

I have my pc going on 3yrs now and this problem had been slowly up coming in the last 3 or 4 months or so. my pc ran for 2 yrs no problems. I do a lot of video editing and gaming.

What i do to get around it!
In order to stop this cycle i need to turn it off from the wall for a couple mins, i think it wipes the memory of being in standby/hibernation, then actually reboots the whole system from the actual start.

one day it wouldnt turn on at all, so bought a new PSU thinking it was the problem causing all of this, but after installing a brand new PSU got the same problem.

This has also blown a fuse in my 5.1 surround sound logitech speakers from turning off/on, so i think a power surge or something happened, through the mobo.

What i do now is shut down the whole pc instead of letting it go into standby/hibernation as im just a little worried it may do some system component damage like it has to my speakers & PSU.

This is what i have tried so far,
- Malware/Virus scan, nothing
- Registry cleaner, still nothing
- Googling it, couldn't really find a solution from what i found online
- Updated BIOS, still nothing same results
- Did reformat only loading the basic software, still nothing same result
- Tried contacting gigabyte tech team, still no answer after a week.
- Now im here and Tom hardware forum, waiting to get a result (crossing fingers)

My system specs!

Gigabyte Mobo - X79 - up4
Intel CPU 3820 i7 2011 socket
Cosair vengance memory 2166mhz 2x 8gb, but runs at 1333mhz or 16000mhz
Gigabyte GPU GTX 660 Ti
OS Win 7 Pro 64

i have tried going into event viewer but i cant really find any hard evidence in there to really suggest anything 100%

I know this is a really weird thing to happen and i myself haven't came across anything like this, its really not only pissing me off, but more so because i cant figure it out. Im thinking maybe the GPU, onboard network card or the MOBO are on its way out, im really really leaning towards a new mobo, but dont wanna buy one if its not the problem.

Any help from you guys would be appreciated thank you!!!

i got a response from the gigabytes tech team (finally)

They had suggested it could be 2 things either the HD or memory, well i know definitily its not the HD and i have had problems in the past with my memory, so im putting down to the memory.

So when i can afford it ill be purchasing some new ram.

i was getting alot of BSOD's because of the memory, i had it exchanged and the BSOD's stopped happening but now i have this issue so im kind of thinking now its definitely the memory.

Oh well ill update this forum once i change the memory and we see, my pc has been running sluggish as well i thought the HD was dying thats why i reformatted also, but once it started on the new reforrmatted HD thats when i knew it had to be something else.

I'd recommend running a Memtest if you think your memory is to blame, considering it'll save you hassle if it's not.
