[SOLVED] System upgrade advice/opinion

Hi everyone, I'm making a system upgrade and would like your oppinion on it just to make sure I'm not making any mistake.

The main reason why Im uprgading is because of the motherboard, but it implies that I buy more things because of compatibility.

My current motherboard is an Asus m5a99fx PRO 2.0 with a AMD FX 9590.

Anyway, where I want your oppinion is in terms of components and compatibility and if there's any choice I'm making that may give me problems

Here's the new build I'm making:

SSD: WD BLACK SN750 NVME SSD 500gb (https://www.wd.com/products/internal-ssd/wd-black-nvme-ssd.html)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700x (https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-7-2700x)

Motherboard: ROG STRIX X470-F GAMING (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-X470-F-GAMING/)

RAM: DDR4 16GB 3200MHz CL18 DIMM HyperX FURY Black (https://www.hyperxgaming.com/en/memory/fury-ddr4)

CPU Cooler: MasterAir Maker8 (https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/legacy-products/cooling/masterair-maker-8/)

So, is there anything I should change while I have the time, any thing thats known to have issues, or should I go with it?

At a glance, those are solid options -- and a very nice upgrade over the 9590 !!

I'm assuming the 16GB kit you're looking at is 2x8GB and not 1x16GB or 4x4GB? If not, opt for dual channel 2x8GB.

CL18 is pretty loose - try to shoot for CL15 or CL16.... CL14 would be ideal, but 15 or 16 tends to be more affordable.

The Maker8 is a decent cooler -- but if you don't already have it, it's not really the best in terms of price/performance these days. For the money, these options are cheaper, and perform equal to, or better than the Maker8: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/xCL7YJ,krZ2FT,F3gzK8/
It's not a huge disparity though, so if you happen to like the aesthetics (or already have it, etc) of the Maker8, then go for it.

I was going to buy a 1x16GB CL18 Fury, but you have a good point there, so I decided to change it to a 2x8GB CL16 Predator . Thanks for the advice.

For the cooler however, Im ordering everything from the same supplier and unfortunately they don't have the Noctua brand for sale, so for now I'm gonna still order the Maker8 for now.

I'm ordering this on Monday probably, so i still have time to make changes.

What's the intended use-case? Unless you have very memory intensive workloads, 32GB may well be overkill.
16GB total is ideal for gaming, hobby level editing/rendering etc..... If you need 32GB, you usually already know that you do..

The intended use is for gaming and photoshop mostly. And yes, 16GB is enough for it. And if I ever need more I can always upgrade.

The main reason why I'm upgrading is because of the motherboard really.
One of the reasons is I recently bought a Valve Index, and I'm having issues with the usb connections.
Mostly is to do a system upgrade.

Ok I made some changes for the better I think and I want to know If I'm doing the right choice.

I ditched the cooler since it was not made for AM4 socket (wich I didn't notice), so I will use the one that comes with the CPU, and order another one if need to.

Changed the motherboard with the ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING (https://www.asus.com/pt/Motherboards/ROG-Strix-X570-F-Gaming/ ) wich supports gen 3 processors in case I want to upgrade.

And changed the SSD with the Samsung Serie 970 PLUS 500GB wich has faster speeds (read: 3500 MB/s, write: 3300 MB/s where the other was 3470/2600 ) at almost the same price.

What do you think?

Its good. If you change to an x570 motherboard you mind as well get a 3600 - 3700x to take advantage of the better performance and new features of the new generation. Even a 3600 is faster than a 2700x in most cases.

I'm changing to the x570 so I can upgrade the cpu later if I want.
I know those are better but the 2700x is the best one available where I'm ordering from, thats why I'm getting that one, I would get a better one if I could.

No problem, its a bit regrettable that you cannot get a 3000 series but you will not be unhappy with the 2700x.

Yeah, I was thinking of getting a Ryzen 9 even, but they don't have them either, so I'll get one later. For now the 2700x is a pretty good upgrade over the fx9590, so I'm pretty happy with it.
