Question System upgrade/New system. Need advice.

I am looking to build a new system and carry over what parts I have in my current system that are still current enough (thinking about bringing over my cpu cooler, x2 m.2 drives, windows, and some fans/controller stuff) but I'm finding I've been out of the game for to long!

To be clear I am not looking to ask someone to put in the research work for me here, more than a few hours deep into research on this over the last week or two, there are just so many things I don't know anymore which is why I'm hoping to get the opinion of someone much more experience than I.

My budget is 2200, but again I have some parts I can reuse. I play a few games but the most graphics intensive will probably be the new call of duty releasing soon, I'd like to play it on max settings with 60+ fps on a 34" 3440x1440 144hz monitor and have my old monitor run as my side monitor for youtube/what not. I do not have any preference on intel vs amd, or nvidia vs radeon.

Please note I pulled my old gpu into the new build and I only used $1400 of my $2200 budget, that's because I'm trying to save around $800 for a gpu, I'm just waiting on the nvidia 4th gen to drop so I can get a lower end 4th gen, or a higher end 3rd gen once the prices respond.

1000 watt PSU might be more than required.

$220 for new DDR 5 RAM. Some would question if that should be a high priority. Understandable to want the new cool stuff, but performance improvement might be unnoticeable.

Ya I thought about sticking with DDR4 and using what I have but I can't quite swallow not going with the new platform for a new build. Or were saying 32 gb is a waste?

I understand on not wanting to swallow DDR 4 on a new PC.

32 GB a waste?

Going from 8 to 16 is easy to understand.

16 to 32 less so, but what are your expectations?

Do you know how much RAM you actually use in normal operations?

Even if you could not tell the difference between 16 and 32, would you be unhappy with 16 for whatever reason...just as you would be unhappy with DDR 4?

Good questions, honestly I just assumed 32 was the new 16, which is silly for sure I doubt I'll notice any difference between 16 and 32. I'll drop the 32 down to 16 on my pcpartpicker list and save that money. I've spent all my time researching for this on other places like amd vs intel cpu with amds rumored to drop soonish and gpu Nvidia Gen 4 and some of the tech in mobos that is new to me and various other things. I didn't give the ram much thought at all so I appreciate pointing that out.

As for the psu, I don't know what Nvidia Gen 4 gpus will need and the price difference for a modular platinum was nominal between a 750 watt and a 1000 watt so I just went with that one.

Edit I forgot to say, I have no hangups using 16gb of ram, I think I only have 32gb of ddr4 in my old system because I was big into rgb and admittedly less mature at that time

Last few comments:

New Intel CPUs should be out in the the 4th quarter of this year. Maybe you can wait. Maybe not. Early reports suggest 10 percent improvement. Don't know how much good that will do you.

If you remotely think you might ever want/need 32 RAM even for bad reasons, it's better to buy it all now in one single kit than to buy 16 now and 16 more later.

If I were on a fairly serious budget and 32 was on my mind, I'd drop the PSU down to 850 if I needed to and put that money toward the 32 RAM.

Quite likely you would never notice the difference between 16 gb, 32 gb, 850 watt, or 1000 watt PSU. Just a matter of guessing about future requirements and your pre-conceived notions and your budget.

Find a case with a mesh front panel because that MSI has horrible airflow as in it's a hotbox.

I would get the DDR4 motherboard and use the memory you have. Nothing wrong with 32GB of memory if I was buying now I would get 32GB.
DDR4 vs DDR5 gaming almost no difference a few FPS is not worth 200 bucks. (That could go toward a better video card or just keep the savings)

5 Year old CPU AIO cooler replace that. That is around the time they start to fail. For a AIO I would get at least a 280mm.

I agree with buying a better case with more airflow.

Also upgrade to windows 11 it uses the cores better than W 10.

Other than that MSI board only comes with one M.2 heatsink it will work fine in any ATX case. It's the MSI case, not the board that's the hotbox.
