Hey, it’s been a while since I’ve completely upgraded some parts. I need to upgrade from a HDD to a SSD, gpu needs upgrading. Any recommendations?

Any additional upgrade recommendations? I primarily use this PC for gaming.

Depends, if it’s one or two things to upgrade probably £700 total. Don’t really fancy shelling out too much on a whole new rig.

The m.2 slot actually, yeah it does support them.

for gaming I don’t think so. Maybe im slow but i did not notice much of a difference between that and an 870 evo.
I’d get the cheapest one i could find and spend the money saved in upgrading something else, but if you have extra cash then why not 😃 would be good to have…

edit: i mean, any reasonably good ssd would be a massive upgrade over an hdd. I just don’t see any benefit getting the absolute bleeding edge ssd… upgrade the gpu if you could find one.

980 Pro is PCIE 4.0 drive. Your system supports PCIE 3.0 mode only. So full performance of 980 Pro is unattainable on your system.
Get 970 evo or 970 pro instead. Should save you some money.

In regards to GPU upgrades, are the new generation of them supported by this motherboard too? Not sure if it would be worth upgrading the mobo as well as SSD and GPU?

The 7700k is still relatively decent so if you want to stretch its useful life, something like a 860EVO (SATA3) would help quite a bit. For most everyday use and gaming in general, there is almost no difference between a good SATA3 (6Gbps) SSD and NVMe 4.0x4.

If you meant two DIMMs for a total of 8GB, then getting a 16GB kit worth carrying over to an eventual LGA1200 or AM4 upgrade later in the year would be a good idea, especially if you can get a decent price on good memory.

I wouldn't worry too much about upgrading the rest until you manage to score a chunky GPU upgrade for a reasonable price.

Tough call tbh. GPU's are at an all time high so a lot of gamers are doing a board, cpu, RAM upgrade until gpu prices get stable once again.

You have an i7-7700k on a Z motherboard, you could hypothetically overclock a bit and get mostly comparable performance.

Your three biggest bottlenecks right now are:\

• HDD
• only 8GB of RAM (maybe, not sure if you meant "2x (Corsair 8GB)" or "(2x Corsair) 8GB total")
• GTX670

SSD and memory prices are expected to rise and since you could use both in your current system immediately, I'd start there.
