System upgrade

Guys right now i am running a core2duo e6320 with 2gb of ram and a 9600gt graphics card all running on an old asus p5bvmse(965chipset) motherboard. I am thinking of an upgrade maybe in 1 month. I am thinking of getting a core2duo e8400 with another 2gb ram so total 4gb ram and a GTS250 graphics card. Right now i am running games in 15inch monitor which supports 1024max resolution. I maybe getting an 18.5inch monitor that supports 1280 resolution. So what do you guys think of this upgrade? I know i dont have much money to spend on the latest things i have other things to do. And i m sure of that i am not moving above 1280 resolution because i simply dont really like that much big monitors 18.5inch or 19inch(1440x960 resolution in that) is just enough for me. I know many of u guys may suggest me a gtx260 but really that is so much costly here. I cant really strech my budget if i have to then i have to wait till next year march or april. So do you think this is an worthy upgrade? I will be glad if u guys can give me some tips because i can wait as right now 9600gt in 1024 is playing all the games in high settings so should i wait or i just go and upgrade those? And do u think the price will drop significantly for gfx and processor in the next year? Thank you guys in advance.

a an ati 4870 will be a match for a 260 and core2 prices will drop since intel wont be making them anymore an graphics prices will drop with the release of ati's 5 series

If your games are running fine what's the point in wasting moeny for an upgrade? At that resolution a 9600gt should hold fairly well. I would recommend overclocking the cpu and gpu. Save up money and wait till dx11 comes out.

just yesterday i saw a person running quad core, 4gb ram and gtx275 and he is running games in 15inch monitor!!!! thats why i felt like i should upgrade lolololol anyways tnx for the suggestion i guess then i will wait till next year.

well if you do get a new monitor, don't go to 1280x720 (or 1280x800) you might as well step up to 1920x1080 (or 1920x1200)

a good large monitor can last several computers, i still have a 19in LCD that i have had for 4 years (1280x1024 not widescreen)

First of all i m in limited budget. ANd if i go for that high resolution then it will be tough for me to match a good graphics card with those resolution. for example if i go with a gtx260 now in 1920 it will hold up fine i know but after quite sometime it will strive to get good fps so i have to lower the gfx settings(which i dont want to) so i better go with a lower resolution.and moreover i dont really want to get so much big monitors really because i just feel comfortable with a maximum 19inch monitor. So maybe a 19inch for me with 1280 or 1440 resolution. Then maybe a decent card for a average price will do for me but thanks for ur advice. I guess if intel come up with new processors and lower the price of core2duos i wil be going with that e8400 those things are solid in gaming. And with new gfx cards coming out mayb if the price falls that high i will be going with a gtx275 or a minimum gtx260 for my resolution. probably i will be better off for the whole 2010. because i guess dx11 games are not really coming out till the end of 2010. Still now we really havent seen any real dx10 games except for just few!! so implementing dx11 strictly will take time and i guess nvidia and ati will not prompt it so quickly because then their recent cards like gtx295 or 4890 will become obsolute.

you could keep your e6250 and overclock it, you can reach e8400 speed no problem, a nvidia 260 is overkill for your res i would advise going with a 4850 and even that's overkill but will save you some cash may be enough for a new monitor

Save your money and get a larger monitor first. I am not a big fan of huge monitors either. I have a 19" that I have had for 4 years, 1280x1024 that I think is really a good size for the average person who is not a heavy gamer. Does not take a high end end video card to run, but still looks pretty good for a casual gamer.
And you can actually see what the heck you are doing, why you can even open more than 1 window at a time and rearrange them on the screen so you can see BOTH of them!
15", my god man. You are going to strain your eyes.
