System won't boot, don't know what else to try

Hey Guys, I am in desperate need of help.

Specs:

PSU: Corsair CX430
MOBO: MSI Z77A-G43
CPU: 3570k
RAM: Patriot Viper 3 DDR 1600 2 X 4GB
GPU: EVGA GTX650

I have the MOBO sitting on the cardboard case it came with with the power supply attached to the ATX 24 PIN and ATX 8 PIN. CPU/HSF installed. Also a mobo speaker attached. When I jump start with the screw driver. CPU fan spins for 5 seconds and I hear the 3 beats for RAM. Then the fan shuts off right away, and also the PSU fan shuts down. It repeats itself.

Next I installed the RAM. The CPU fan attempt to spin but doesn't get going. And nothing else moves except the PSU fan but it turns off too. No beeps or boot.

Next I took the CPU and HSF out and the RAM out. I get no beeps. The PSU fan turns then shuts down.

Now I redid all the test with my PSU from old build. Antec Earthwatts 750. The results are the same.

So I assumed it was the mother board issue. I did an exchange at fry's. The results repeat it self.

Now I can only think it is the CPU, but I do not want to go exchange unless I know for sure it is the CPU.

Are there any other test I can do to confirm it is the CPU issue.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I'm not there, so I can't rule this out. Stay with me here and don't shoot this idea down because I did it myself just this last weekend. Check on the back of the PSU to make sure you have it switched to the l and not the O for power on. When I was building my new computer (at midnight) last week, I was unplugging it while it was set to l, plugging the power cord in, switching the switch to O, and then turning on the power. The cast and cpu fans would spin for about 2-3 seconds and then shut off. I was convinced I had either a short in the mobo or a bad psu. I went to bed, woke up the next morning, and almost as soon as I set up in bed it dawned on me to set the switch to l instead of O. Walked into the room, did that, and the system booted up fully. So check that. It's one of those simple "duh" things, I know. But it can happen to all of us.

Let us know if this works! (or at least send me a private message so I can know I'm not the only person who's ever done this!)

Thanks for your response! I just verified that I had the switch set on I. Still not luck =/. I'm really not sure what to do other than to exchange the CPU. If anyone else has anything else I can try please do share. Thanks!

Try starting the system with the video card removed...My GTX 285 died the other day and caused the same problem....
if it spins up and it will likely beep because there is no video card installed..then you know what you have to do...lol

Thanks Johnnyq1233! I did try without the video card. The HSF attempts to spin then stops. No Beeps though. This is with the RAM sticks in. Is there anyway to isolate the problem to the CPU? Thanks in advance!
