Question System won't boot off m.2

Hello!
I have recently transferred my OS from my HDD to an m.2 drive. The process went fine, but when I try to boot from the drive, it always defaults back to the HDD. I have the m.2 set as priority in the boot order, but whenever I choose it in F11, it still boots off the HDD.

Mobo: MSI MPG X570 Gaming edge wifi
M.2: Crucial 1tb p5

Unplug the hd and start it with only the m2 in place. does it boot up then?

Just tried, It said to reboot and select a proper boot device.
