System won't boot

I have a Gigabyte GA-8KNXP2 V2 motherboard that will not boot. I had this system running for about a week before I got a CPU overheat alarm. The system froze and hasn't booted since. I have replaced the CPU and removed most components with no luck.

The system POSTs OK and begins to load XP. It then blanks the screen and re-runs the POST.

I have also tried changing the memory, disk drive (SATA), and booting from CD.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can further troubleshoot the system?

What happens when you default the BIOS? Same thing? RMA the board. When you remove it look at the backside for any burnt marks around the socket and V-regs.

Just picked up a medium grade motherboard and put all of my parts on it. It does EXACTLY the same thing. Tried two CPUs and two sets of memory.

No burn marks on the orignal MB. I've got something else going on here.

It resets when booting from the XP CD? You could have a power supply going out.

At this point I have replaced absolutely everything except the DVD/RW drive that I am trying to boot from. The last thing to go was the video board. I am now getting stop errors when trying to load the OS.

I pulled the two SATA drives and put in a standard ATA(IDE).
The Radeon 9600XT video board has been replaced with an old 4x.
Memory swapped, power supply, keyboard, mouse. Removed everything else.

Pick-up a lucky rabbit foot. You need it! Are you sure you're using adequate power supplies and double checking for MB grounds? I'm stumped.

Only a rabbit's foot would help at this point. The power supply is a ThermalTake 480W. I checked the output and it appears to be OK.

I've built many systems over the years and have never run into a situation like this.

I'm going to yank a CD drive out of one of my other systems and try it. It is the only thing left.

Wow, you can basically run 2 completely separate systems and get the same problem?? That is pretty wierd. I couldn't imagine that the CD drive would make any difference. You might wanna try doing a piecewise assembly. What I mean is to put together a barebones system first and see if that boots, just to test the PSU load out. Limit to 1 HD and 1 CD drive and as few other peripherals as possible... see if that makes any difference.
