[SOLVED] System won't go to sleep by itself

Hello, my computer will not go to sleep by itself. This is a problem because I have to share it with my wife, who is not all that great about putting it to sleep when she uses it after I go to work. The system stays on and runs the fans all day. I'm constantly having to clean the unit due to a dog and two cats. Help! I did a complete reinstall of windows and it was fine for 2-3 weeks then it stopped going to sleep by itself.

open cmd or powershell with admin rights and write this command:
powercfg -requests
it should tell you if there is anything which prevents your PC from sleep
can be some background task, like windows update (very common)
