System configuration:
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
ASUS Prime X570-P (latest 2816 BIOS)
Samsung 980 PRO 1TB
Sapphire Radeon 5700XT
Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 8GB x 2
Windows 10 Pro 20H2

Hi everyone

I recently upgraded from a Samsung 970 EVO (1TB) to a Samsung 980 PRO (also 1TB) to take advantage of PCIe 4.0. The system will not boot or even POST when the 980 PRO is placed in motherboard NVMe slot 1, but will boot normally when it is placed in slot 2. It does not matter what is on the drive - blank, boot partition, etc. As the system won't POST, I cannot even get into BIOS to see what's wrong. The old 970 EVO boots fine from either slot. It seems like the motherboard does not like the PRO in slot 1 and I cannot fix this in any way. Short of trying another motherboard, I am stumped.

I'd like to eventually get a second 980 PRO and put the two into a RAID 0, so this is very frustrating. Any clues from the community?
