What is the essential difference between Systems Analysis and Systems Development and which one is best suited to a CS career and IT career

Usually you become a Systems Analyst when you become too "experienced" or too expensive to be a Developer....

I say that with a smile, but also because it is true. To be a systems analyst, you have to have lived through the development of systems. You have to know the type of things that can go wrong. Maybe because you have been there or maybe because you cause them. You need to have been mentored by people, "gray beards", that know what is important and what isn't.
