My question is simple...are pads best left on or taken off?

I want to die like my Grandfather...in my sleep...not screaming in terror like his passengers.

love the sig.

leave the pads on, they help keep the heatsink level whilst attaching. The heatsink, if tipped, can crumble/crush the edes of the cpu die.

Leave the pads on, unless you're going to be exceedingly careful, or you have bought a copper 'spacer' plate.

BTW, with those rubber spacers on, you have to crank down on a spring HARD before you come into contact with the cpu.

I have to agree. Leave them on, too many people with cracked cpu issues. By the way your signature is just way too cool, gotta love it.

Rock out with your AMD out

Since it's a question, leave them on. Unless you're using/buying a copper spacer.

You have to *CRANK* down on the heatsink before it even comes into contact with the cpu, as long as you have those rubber pads on the die.
