T:V - Hit, Miss or complete flop?

69 players online at time of writing.
The most I've seen online is around 300, mainly in USA.
Fairly dire reading for a game that is just over a month old.

What do you think, is T:V a slow burner waiting to explode in popularity, or
is it a non starter?

I'm currently still playing it mainly because I paid for it and hate see the
money wasted.

You still play it mainly because you hate seeing money wasted?

That's as logical as saying that you would continue seeing a person that
you have grown to hate, because you don't want to throw away the 10
years you have invested in the relationship.

Play because you enjoy it or don't and move on.

I like the game, and I play it, ; but there are many problems with the game,
and I think a lot of people are just burned out on tribes. It will not get
much better in terms of number of players if you ask me. Peeps are
anxiously awaiting the promised December patch but I don't think it will be
a save. Competitive teams are dropping. My tribe got owned by a
combination of finishing graduate work, moving, jobs and sadly WoW. Sad
too, as I said I like the game. I just can't play anything without a
jetpack, being doing it too long. :^)

If I didn't get motion-sick from playing FPS games, I'd be back in
T1/T2, and trying out T:V myself. 🙁

I hate to repeat it, but Halflife 2 just came out, and a day or two ago,
halflife 2 multiplayer came out. There will be very few PC gamers who arn't
bashing on all the Steam games. I've not touched T:V since I got HL2, but I
will play it again.
I do think that a large amount of people will rally around HL2, as it is
like an industry standard, and very modable (and distributable). Tribes
Vengence is one of the most enjoyable games I have played in a long time.
Sadly, I think irrational had to release it before HL2, or they would have
had one seriously lame duck. I'm not saying HL2 is infinately better than
TV, but just that it has a massive following. I feel sorry for all the other
developers out there in FPS land at the moment, as I expect they will
struggle to compete.

One thing I will say I like the look of however, is the Starsiege mod for
T:V. That will have me coming straight back.

If you haven't seen it, take a look...

I think you could tell somewhat scientifically by following the
sales curves. Seems to me it dropped off of the sales charts one
Half-Life 2 came out.

>I've not touched T:V since I got HL2, but I will play it again.

Multiplayer provides years of possible enjoyment. And the publishers
make money by requiring a key. I think it's great since I love
multiplayer.

Sounds like a distinct possibility to me. As long as the publishers
don't have a knee-jerk reaction, there shouldn't be any problem.

Thanks for the information, again. I hope eventually they allow for
using a game pad.

Have fun.

I have no idea why there would be. I have never been confronted by
any admins, or anyone else, on Houston Vehicle servers. I just go,
play, and have fun. I don't use any hacks, I don't abuse other
players, I just do my own thing to help my team win, and that's it.
Tribes 2 is a riot IMO. Sometimes I have complained about no one
fixing the generators, and that apparently caused no trouble. But if
they ever do harass me, I promise to come here and whine about it.

Well, they've been known to do things like ban you if you are with a tribe
they don't care for, play unfairly and ban you if you complain, etc

They also ban you if you actually play T2 as it should be played, i.e with
teamwork.

The whining is no surprise to me. Those who are unhelpful and even
abusive to people here, shouldn't be surprised when an administrator
of a team game kicks them out. If they are rude and unhelpful to
other people, they probably are less than worthless on a team.

that amounts to arguing with a stump that only has the word "troll" carved

I've played on pubs with Mr. K at my side and was damn glad to have him.
And I worried when he was on the other side. But he's not going to win any
awards down at the UN for being best ass-kisser. Some admins can't deal

To be honest, I'm not sure. Been a little while since I've played T2
between moving and work (plus can't play since my mousin hand is out of
commision). Used to play on Widomaker alot, but thats no more, not sure if
barrysworld is still around. From what I've heard, a bunch of the T2
servers have already started jumpin ship to T:V.

Considering the concept of [TOP] originated here, I'd say we're quite
capable of playing as a team.
