T3 Heath potion

I'm really embarrassed but I can't figure out how to use (drink) the
health potions. What's the exact procedure?

Select a health potion and push the "use item" key.

F3 is the default key to load the Health Potion as your default 'item', then
press 'I' to use your default item.

Hmmm...I guess you select it with the function key and then press the same
key you used in the training mission to toss a flashbomb? I miss the
ability to use the same mouse button to frob objects as well as use
objects but there is no way to bind the same key to both those functions
AFAICS.
