I was looking to upgrade the ram on our Dell T3500's. Did a search and the first listing was an ebay sell of compatible ram.

24GB (6x4GB) PC3-10600R DDR3 1333 ECC Reg Server Memory RAM Dell Precision T3500

I figured great deal but then I read Registered. I though only the T5500 and the
T7500 took registered ram? Will the above ram work with a T3500. Thank you in advance for answering as well.

T3500
X5677
12gb pc-3 ram

Thank you for the information. I called the company today that had the ram on the ebay sale. They found out they made a mistake. Since I already ordered it I will have to return it. Kind of felt sorry for them as they said I was not the only one. (Guess I was not the only one that read the ram was for T3500 and jumped on it for the price.)

I saw those on Ebay too. Sure you are not the only one who contacted them.

A real shame these T3500 only take non-registered (unbuffered) ECC memory as they are fairly uncommon. Almost worth it to get a T5500 just for the cheaper RAM capability.

I thought about that.. getting a t5500 but I am kind of having a blast with the t3500. I just got one for myself with a W3690 and it should be here in about a week. I can't believe these xeons beat out my i5 from a year ago. Our t3500 on my sons computer is done with the exception of the window. (kind of got side tracked)

The ram. wow... when I called the company the receptionist could not believe that the ram was wrong. She was saying that I could not be right as they are shipping like crazy. She called me back after about 30 min and apologized. I wish I would of waited to order but live and learn I guess. Now I need to look for the right memory so I can upgrade mine when it comes in.. :)

Best I have come up with is about $6 per GB either ECC or not. Could populate this thing with 24gb below $50 if it took registered ECC.

Was wondering how your window was coming along. Like you said in your other thread - thick metal. And double layer too for extra EMI shielding & noise. No wonder these cases are almost 50-lbs. Had the side panel off mine earlier today and was thinking that alone is probably 10-lbs.

I did finish up the bezel. It turned out great. Yellow then with a red stripe down the center. covered up the dell logo with a pic of the borderlands 2 psycho.

I also ordered a side panel for cheap that I found on ebay just so my son can keep playing while I mess with it. (Now that he has his first computer he is pretty protective over it.. ) The panel is double layered so I plan to make the inside cut right above the dell logo.... then cut the outside out below so I will hopefully have a smooth surface to attach it to. Really wish there were not so many ridges on the inside.. I could have probably easily cut through both and made it work if not for that fact. And ya,, these things are heavy!!!

As far as the ram goes.. with my son's computer it came with it. I had no idea older ram like this was so expensive.
