Hi! I recently ordered a Dell Precision T7610 motherboard for home server. Now closely looked at the specs and found out that it requires 24pin (think standard) and another 20pin power connectors. Wonder if I now have to buy a specific Dell PSU (+psu card, can't find it anywhere). Maybe I can just use two standard ATX PSU's? It looks like 20 pin is a combination of 4/8-pins. It would be a pity if it fits and then blows up( Many thanks!

Yeah, it seems that the 20-pin is made up by the 12V rails.

Here's also an image of the MoBo,

In this case, you can use any standard ATX PSU that has at least 3 CPU/ PCI-E power connectors.
From under the same link that you gave, there are listed that "Power connector: One 24-pin and one 20-pin connector".
If the 20-pin is really the standard 20-pin ATX connector then you can't use the 4/8-pin connectors on it since the pin layout doesn't match.

Standard ATX PSU pin layout.

Since the stock PSU in T7610 is 1300W, it may very well be a two PSUs in one big housing, hence why the MoBo uses 24-pin and 20-pin power connector.

The most annoying thing about prebuilt systems is that the PC maker (in this case, Dell) makes the PCs so that you can't use mainstream components due to the compatibility. Forcing you to use the unique components provided only by the Dell.

I don't think there is a reason to double the same thing here, PS_ON for example + you need at least 2x4x12V for CPU power.

Look at right bottom - seems like standard 4/8pin yellow (+12V) / black (GND) wires.

Where you able to get the motherboard to work for you without having to buy a dell specific motherboard? I am in the same situation you are in and I am looking for options on how to resolve this.

Thanks!
