Tabbed browsing vs. Multiple windows memory usage

Hi there,

I'm new to these forums however I've been reading articles from here for years.
Forgive me if this has already been asked before, but the computers at work got me wondering. We have these dinosaurs of computers at work that are obviously on an
intranet and have access to the net, but they lag and bluescreen when we open multiple tabs or windows.

So it got me thinking which one uses more memory and which one is faster etc. As it obviously makes a difference on these older machines.

Simple way to find out.
Start task manager and watch the memory used, open a bunch of different windows and take notes.
Open a bunch of tabs and take notes.
Compare.
