I have an Acer Iconia W4 821 (windows 8.1 32bit installed, 64GB, 2GB RAM, Intel 64 bit processor).

Should i install Windows 10 64 bit version or 32 bit? Acer has only 32 bit drivers on its website. Does Windows 10 64 bit have the required drivers to run the Tablet properly as Acer has not provided 64 bit drivers on its website.

Will Windows 10 (64 bit) have windows media player to run Videos on my Tablet? Will Windows 10 (64 bit) display webpages containing Flash?

I would be grateful for your help.

If Acer has not provided 64-bit drivers, then it's a pretty good bet that no-one else had bothered to write them. So my best guess is that you can't install the 64-bit version and run everything

You say that Acer has 32-bit drivers. Are these Win10 drivers, or Win8 drivers?

Thanks Knott, helpful answer.

On Acer webiste for my tablet, only Windows 8, 32-bit drivers are listed.
I was reading that a Tablet owner has updated his Lenovo Miix 2 to Windows 10 (32-bit) without any issues.

Do you feel that if i simply update my windows 8.1 (32-bit) to Windows 10 (32-bit) it will work with the existing drivers?

I look forward to your valued reply.

Nah, my reply is useless. Try it and see.

Obviously, since 10 is more or less beta, the manufacturers haven't published drivers for it yet. But Microsoft will try to include default support for as much of the hardware out there as possible.

So take a complete backup of your system so that you can restore it to its current working state if Win10 fails. Then try the 64-bit version. See what happens. If it fails on drivers, try the 32-bit version with the Win8 drivers. Then tell everyone what your experience was, so we have a little more knowledge about Win10.

How important is the functionality of your tablet? Windows 10 is pre-release software. If you can tolerate your tablet being less useful than it currently is, then go for it. But provide the feedback that MS is looking for.

Win 10 is currently in its beta stages. This is probably why there are no drivers yet on their website. Personally I would wait until win 10 is officially out and then download. If you are however being adventitious then make sure you have taken a full backup and then try each one in turn and let me know how it goes.

Hi

Since you have 2GB of ram which is the minimum to be able to run windows 64 bit I can't see the point of using 64 bit windows

Check if you can boot up a64 bit windows DVD or usb as some Intel net books have been crippled in the bios so 64 bit windows does not work

Remember the public beta of windows 9 or 10 has a microsoft key logger which reports back to Microsoft.

Thanks for your valued inputs.

Acer people replied as follows "Acer Iconia TAB W4-821 is designed for Windows 8 -32 bit version operating system only. 64 bit Operating system will not support."

I simply updated to Windows 10 (32-bit) and it is working flawlessly. It is a nice improvement with several new features. I also went to Win +R and RUN gpedit.msc and made some changes to disable Lock Screen et.

Windows 10 is worth the effort to update.
