Guys can anyone know why the eyes of Jesus changes color in the movie The Passion of Christ by Mel Gibson? Some said its just an Anti Semetic thing. Im not happy of some dudes point of view. I want the truth why Mel Gibson intentionaly does that and the meaning.....

Because it looks more Jesus to have brown eye?

Look at the typical European depiction of Jesus in wikipedia, first picture of the page.

Also in the article:

In the 2004 movie, The Passion Of The Christ, Jesus was portrayed by James Caviezel who wore a prosthetic nose during filming and had his blue eyes digitally changed to brown to give him a Middle Eastern appearance. According to designer Miles Teves, who created the prosthesis: "Mel [Gibson] wanted to make the actor playing Jesus, James Caviezel, look more ethnically Middle Eastern, and it was decided that we could do it best by changing the shape of his nose.

Jesus's appearance can be whatever you like him to be because no one really know what he looks like. Some picture he is black and in some he is Asian.

May be if the movie is directed by Ang Lee targeted toward the Far East audience, Jesus will be Asian.

I believe he has grey coloured skin with large black eye and about 1 meter tall.

Thanks for the reply...Have you seen the movie? Its not just by turning to brown or blue. Theres a part when Jesus was held captive the night at the garden and walking by the fortress walls. The soldier is beating him badly and push him over and fell over to Judas, the eyes of Jesus turns to yellow or amber color. I understand what you mean of other film makers point of view. Like, if a guy from Papua New Guinea decides to make a film of Jesus and happen to their own soil it would probably be a papuan guy...going back to the movie the eyes changes to a lot of color maybe Mel Gibson intentionaly done that some says is just graphical error. I you'll watch the movie again and notice it...Im a newbie here and I enjoyed it..

I tried to watch it on Easter when they show it but I doze off after about 10 minute and wake up intermittently and have a glimpse. I am not religious so excuse my lack of interest.

No, I didn't notice the change of eye colour. But I know people with really light brown eye that looks amber under bright light condition, for example during sunset when the light gets into the eye.

But since you mentioned the amber coloured eye occur at night, it is strange because I am pretty sure my friend's eye looks brown at night.

Probably an editing error.

you like rabbits? I like beatrix potter.

No, I am not a rabbit person or even a pet person.

I just found my rabbit on the street near my neighbourhood earlier this year.

I though someone must have forgotten to lock it up and it ran away after New Year party. So I waited for someone in the neighbourhood to look for lost rabbit then I will return it.

But that didn't happen. No one came looking for it. Either someone want to get rid of it or the rabbit travelled too far from home.

I have to keep it because it will probably be destroyed in animal shelter. If I let it go, it may be killed by feral cats. Also, they are a pest specie in Australia.

So out of concern for its welfare and for the environment, I bought a hutch for it and keeping it in the backyard.

I sometimes have to capture and even kill animal for conservation and research work. I though I am cold blooded enough to not get attached to the animal but I did and it becomes my pet, not just some animal I need to keep it safe.

I think I will be pretty devastated if it dies. I didn't think I am such a sensitive person before.

But I don't think I will get another rabbit after this one. Too much to do.

I will see if I can find Beatrix Potter's The Tale of Peter Rabbit in ebook or in library.

Read it. It is a really short children story.

I don't think I will read it to my children thou (don't have any now, but in the future).

The bit about the mother rabbit telling Peter his father becomes a pie after wandering into Mr McGregor’s garden will probably gives children nightmares.

I don't like seeing skinned rabbit in butcher after I have my pet rabbit. Quite disturbing.

well I like the story bout the life of Beatrix Potter. Telling the story to a child its a bit gruesome, Ill drink to that...I got a pet too. Shes a rottweiler I call her Moira. I hate people who kill animals for fun. I dont know bout you..Lol, anyway you said its for research stuff...I give thanks for the butchers work at our local meatshop for not seeing the actual thing. Do you think so? and I think I'll go rather to some regular meat from a regular livestock.

I don't know about regular livestock.

I think piglets are cute. So I really shouldn't eat pork.

If we value all animal lives, then I shouldn't eat meat at all.

I can't do that so I will play favouritism on animals and stick to the social convention of eating what you call "normal" livestock.
