Bah comments... Just do away with patent system altogether and let the best, quickest and sneakiest company win! Yes it might bring some crappy products to market, but hmmm aren't they already there? They won't last for long with no consumer support. This will eliminate the trolls and lawyers saving company's millions if not billions! Which would either increase productivity or lower cost to the consumer.

patents need to be re written.

digital patents, such as rounded corners, those need to be done away with.
patents in electronics, such as how to send emails and such, need short lives, because of the rate at which technology currently evolves.
mechanical patents, those need to stay the way they are.

"just filed a patent."

"originally filed in 2001."

'Just released to the public by USPTO'

Just because you're too stupid to properly grasp the difference between 'just released' and 'originally filed,' doesn't mean "just filed."

It may be a stupid patent, but it's also entirely Microsoft's. I doubt FourSquare was around in 2001.
