My Paladin and Mage characters are coming along nicely. My tamer seems to be
bogged down. She doesn't advance hardly at all except in Mage and Mag Res.

What should I attempt to tame and where should she go?

Her present skills are:
Animal Lore 43.2
Animal Taming 35.1
Magery 36.2
Mag Resist 46.2
Meditation 55.3
Swords 46.6
Vet 29.8
S 71
D 50
I 38

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. TIA

Andrea

Apparently it's like combat - you have to stay with animals close to your
level to have gains. UO Powergamers says to use this list as a guide:
30 Timberwolves, Hinds, Brown Bears
50 Grey Wolves
65 Great Harts, Grizzly Bears, White Wolves
80 Giant Toads (west of the Terrathen Keep)
85 Imps (desert in T2A)
90 Predator Hellcats
95 Dragons, White Wyrms, Nightmares

Tame, rename, and release everything. Polychromic's list is good start.
What you want to do is go someplace like Moonglow and tame everything on
the isle other then brown bears and harts since they are too high for
your skill level. Other good spots are Trisic moongate, area around
Vesper, Delucia. I once ran a tamer up to 70ish skill level on Moonglow
taming nothing but hinds.

Ice<Dagger> Isle is a good spot for 50-GM taming. What you want to do is
pick up a couple of taming rings to get your 50ish taming above 65. At
~65 taming I think you can attempt every animal on the isle. You just
start on one side and circle the entire isle.

If you don't have a rune to Ice Isle, just look for a rune library with
"Deciet Dungon" or the "Honesty Shrine" as they are both there.

Good suggestions in the other replies. I'd also try the 'what do I
tame now' calculator at http://www.tamingarchive.com.

The real trick is to tame, tame, tame.... You do have a taming macro
and a tame last macro?

Andrea, here is a GREAT LINK for you.

http://www.tamingarchive.com/main/whattotame.php

You just plug in your taming skill level and it will tell you EXACTLY what
to tame. Mix it up. Don't stick to just one animal. I gained much faster
when I varied the animals and the places.

Have fun!

I'd run around Moonglow and focus on horses, llamas, boars, and bears
until you are in the the mid 50's. Then maybe head to Ice Isle. Good
luck.

I really need to update that list. It works, but there are better alternatives
now. Try www.tamingarchive.com . Their information is more thorough. You can
go quite a bit higher than GM without ever having to tame an aggressive
creature...it makes things a lot easier.
