Hi,
First of all I'm sorry if this has already been solved elsewhere, I tried to search and didn't find a solution for me.

Since a week or two ago, my taskbar stopped working, more specifically the Windows logo, email and Microsoft edge, other programs pinned to the taskbar seem to respond just fine. To shut down the PC I clicked on the case button and a notice saying that a program was running "task host Window (\Microsoft\Windows\Plug and Play\Device Install Reboot Required)", and the next time I turn the PC the taskbar was working. After that I noticed that everytime I shut down my PC by going on the Windows key, the power button and then shut down, the next time I turn it on the taskbar isn't working so I have to click on the case button to turn it off, the message that the task host window is running appears, than click again to turn it on and it's working again.
I already formatted the computer and problem continues. One thing to keep in mind is that if for example I have discord open when I turn of the computer via "software", when I turn it on again the discord is still open (it's not turned on to open on boot) and if I turn off via "hardware" and turn on it just opens normally with no programm opened.

I turned on my computer today, clicked on the Windows logo and on Microsoft edge, after like 5 minutes edge opened and I typed youtube it opened the website then froze, and then the taskbar also froze forcing me to shut it down.

Specs:
CPU:Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
GPU: ASUS R9 280 Series
OS: Win10 pro
RAM: 8GB
MB: H97 Plus

Thanks in advance to everyone that took their time to read this.

Solution
So the solution from toms_hard_where worked for a day or two as I stated, but the problema reappeared and typing that code in powershell would give an error.
After searching more I found this article (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_desktop-insiderplat_pc/task-host-window/c47b5fca-cc6d-405e-b563-5ba0a4c82892?auth=1) and the user NguyenDex said something that actually worked and solved it (for now)
Basically go to Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-In Options and disable the option called "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart".

Should I do this while the taskbar is working or not working? And on that note I only have a user on my computer, what option should I go for or is not really important?

Run it whenever, it won't matter (nor which option as you're the only user).

If that doesn't help it, try step 8 here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4002019/windows-10-improve-pc-performance

Seems like it worked re registering the start menu, thank you very much!

The aboce solution worked, but if I find out the problema persists I'll try that. Thank you for answering!
