Taskbar Randomly Switches to Aero Theme color

So this is starting to happen quite alot now , its happened just 10 mins ago and it happened 3 months back and done the same thing a year back , what is causing this i have looked around for clues or answers and people are saying its due to the fact its an application thats not optimized or something like that for windows aero ( forgive me if im wrong witch i know i am )

the task bar its self only changes color but the background stays the same i have it set to a pure dark

i mean here i was happy browsing firefox and then a little freeze and then it turns to aero , not only that :NOTE: i have no other application running besides firefox , i will post a list of processes if be needed

but when this happened i noticed a very very light pitch noise it was so light when i put my ear up to the front of the PC case near to where the opening for air intake is , i could just tell the difference is what i was hearing , now it never makes this kind of noise or at least i cant recall but im sure to have heard it threw these (totally not Sound protected X12 of headphones)

thank god everything went back to normal however i monitored task manager for all the processes running and found window's support assistance was there and when the problem fixed it self it went away

Are you saying it swaps to the Windows basic theme?

It lacks transiency and most times looks lighter.

This normally happens if windows thinks you are loosing performance from having the video card do whatever it is doing(hardware accelerated browser/video players ect) at the time AND accelerating the desktop. I have only seen it a few times. I know some video players can tell the computer to do this.

If you know the kind of video card you have, ensuring you have the latest drivers is a good start.

Well, I find it highly unlikely that the system should run out of resources or slow down enough to drop back to basic.

Can you ensure you are running the latest driver.

i assure you im running latest drivers i always update all my drivers

this PC broke down around 9 months after i got it and ever since then ive had it running no problem for 2 years straight

Please try to keep an eye on if anything is running all the times this happens. It should not happen unless a program requests it or Windows feels it is performing too slow with Aero(hardware acceleration) on.

Another thing that can cause a Windows 7 PC to switch to the Windows Basic theme (non-Aero) is an active remote connection to the computer itself.

It changes this to help with remote functionality and create uniformity amongst the end user and the person that is remotely connected to the computer.

Before you go all spastic, I'm not saying that someone has hacked your computer and is controlling it remotely. Windows has detected signatures similar to those that would be used for remote support, thus changing the theme being used.

This can be caused by a multitude of things. I would recommend running either MalwareBytes Anti-Malwarehttp://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ or Super Anti-Spywarehttp://www.superantispyware.com/http://www.superantispyware.com/ or even both just to make sure there isn't something on the computer that shouldn't be there.

Also, download GPU-Z, or HWInfo, to see what the temps are on your card when this happens.

In every instance I've seen this happen in it's always one of these two things causing it.

i did run a scan when this first happend but nothin showed up so that was 5 hours down the drain , the 2nd time and the very latest one i have not run a scan yet but il get on it ASAP

done a full scan on Malwarebytes and MSE and all came up clean

This probably isn't the issue but, if you have a laptop sometimes the taskbar changes to save resources when it is on battery instead of plugged in.

if you had read the above post you would know that i dont have a laptop i own a PC please read before posting

A PC can refer to a laptop or a desktop. I missed the word case. No need to be a jerk about it. Remember the people on here trying to help you are doing this for free.

Now to get back to your problem try running command as an admin and typing the command "sfc /scannow" (no quotation marks.) It might ask you for the original install disk.

Exactly the same happened to me, even the GPU screech (coil whine is the term, right?)
