TEAM Elite RAM not working - RAM Issues

Hello everyone,

I've got a fairly dated machine and for playing Fallout 4, I've bought a new GPU and RAM. Here are the specs

i7 860 x 2.8 GHz
Asrock P55 deluxe
Gigabyte GTX 760
some WiFi-card and a WD HDD
650 W Flowerpower
Win 10 64 bit

every driver is up to date, of course.

now, here comes the problem. previously, I was working with a 2x2GB Crucial RAM, worked fine, until I moved and apparently the A1 slot on the MoBo got damaged, because even in POST the system would only give me 2 RAM, though the BIOS states there are 4. Well, whatever, I thougt I could work around this by buying a 1x8GB Team Elite stick. But oh boy was I wrong.

Since my problem is quite a bit complicated, I will try to illustrate the working Memory configurations:

Cru = Crucial 2GB; Tea = Team Elite 8GB

A1 Cru A2 - B1 Cru B2 - -- 2GB working, 2 are stated as "hardware reserved"
A1 Cru A2 - B1 Tea B2 - -- 2GB working, 8 are stated as "hardware reserved"
A1 Cru A2 Tea B1 Cru B2 - -- 2GB working, 10... you know the drill.

every other possible configuration (which are many) is not working. Not in any way. I've tried them all. No dual channel, no single channel, nothing is working. I've tried tweaking the CAS to the Team stick, as it has CL11, whereas Crucial has CL9, but to no avail.

Sadly, is the PC is fairly dated, I don't think I have the possibilty to RMA anything. The newly bought RAM is from craigslist.

I thank you for taking the time to read this and would thank you if you have ANY idea as to what I could possibly try. I will try to answer as quickly as possible and provide you with Screenshots or further information if necessary.

Thanks in advance and have a nice day

P55 doesn't officially support 8GB sticks, it takes up to 4x4GB, and will generally want an older line of DRAM that uses low density memory ICs like the GSkill NT line of value DRAM - most all DDR3 these days (since 2011) is made with high density ICs
Since you've stated that this system is fairly dated, I'm going to assume you were running off Windows 7 or 8/8.1 and then upgraded to Windows 10, correct? Did you upgrade your parts to the Team stick after or before your migration to Windows 10? If after then revert to older OS and then reinstall it. After re-installation of older OS, update until your receive the message from Microsoft to upgrade to Windows 10.

As per your ram, please be careful to only populate your DIMMS with paired/matched sticks. Using two different branded and spec'd kits will result in instability. You should either go for the crucial ram kit or the single Team Elite stick in your system and by that you populate the slot closet to the CPU socket as stated in your manual. Re-installation of your OS should remove the issue with the ram being reserved by hardware though please take note to have the latest BIOS on your system.

May be silly though are you sure you installed the right architecture of Windows 10? Just saying...
