Team Fortress 2 won't launch

It's unmodified, completely default, TF2. It's run before and this problem is only developing now. how do I fix this?

running with: Windows 7 home premium
It's a HP computer
Model: p7-1203
Intel(R) core i3-2120 cpu @ 3.30 GHz
8.00 gigs of RAM
64 bit OS
If it's relevant at all, I used advanced system properties to optimize it for best preformance.

Some people have no patience. 🙁

Anyhoo, try validating the steam cache files. Sometimes they get corrupted during updates.

Right click on the game, select "properties" from the popup menu.
Local Files (tab) -> "Verify integrity of game cache..."

If that doesnt work...delete TF2 from Steam and then redownload it fresh...
